Vitronic reports strong growth in inspection systems for solar industry

VITRONIC, the specialist for machine vision solutions in the industrial and logistics automation, and traffic technology sectors, reports strong growth for its optical inspection solutions for the photovoltaics industry. The company, based in Wiesbaden, Germany, won orders during the first three months with a value that exceeds the excellent result for the first quarter of 2015.

Following the positive development of the previous year, with photovoltaics orders in the double-digit million range, VITRONIC is also carrying this success through into 2016. Thus the company is continuing to establish itself in the Asian growth market as a leading supplier of efficient inspection solutions that cover the entire value chain of photovoltaics production.

"We are happy to continue this success story and to maintain our competitive position in the globally leading markets of Asia", explains Richard Moreth, Head of PV Sales at VITRONIC Dr.-Ing. Stein Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH. "The continuous expansion of our customer base is an important step and many of the major photovoltaics producers use our VINSPECsolar inspection systems."

All signals point to growth in the solar sector: in Asia in particular, leading manufacturers are planning to expand their production. Along with the growing sales of solar modules and solar cells, there is also a rising demand for automated systems for quality inspection that can integrate seamlessly within production sequence. This is a key factor in reducing manufacturing costs.

Further to the positive order development, VITRONIC has expanded its production capacities on a massive scale at is headquarters in Wiesbaden. "In the past few months, we have produced over 300 systems and delivered these to our customers", Moreth explains. The company is also investing in the international service area and is extending its presence in the photovoltaics markets of China and South Korea.
