Vision Components has released the new VC4472 Smart Camera, suitable for highly demanding applications. Its most striking feature is a 1/1.8-inch CCD sensor with a 1,600 x 1,200 pixel resolution and a maximum frame rate of 10fps (20fps in binning mode).

The VC4472 incorporates the latest Texas Instruments DSP generation (1 GHz, 8,000 MIPS). It features an 8-bit colour overlay, which can operate in an opaque or transparent mode. The standard equipment also includes an RS232 and an Ethernet interface. An external trigger input enables jitter-free image recording even at high reading frequencies and a high-speed encoder interface.

The rugged Smart Cameras have an SXGA video output, four digital PLC inputs and four digital outputs. They come with 4MB Flash EPROM and 64MB SDRAM for program and picture storage, which can be optionally extended by a 512 MB SD card.
