HDCorder-SDI

Advanced Micro Peripherals’ new HDCorder-SDI is an intelligent high definition video recording solution that accepts an HD-SDI input at up to 1080p60, encodes it in real time and transfers it to the host system. The HDCorder-SDI is implemented on a standard 3U form factor CompactPCI Serial board. The new offering is part of the range of high performance video products that AMP is releasing for the rugged and increasingly popular CompactPCI-Serial ecosystem.

For multi-spectral EO/IR and high resolution surveillance and mission recording applications, the HDCorder-SDI can extract KLV (MSB 0605.3 compliant) meta-data embedded in the HD-SDI signal. Video, audio and metadata are synchronized, multiplexed to a STANAG-4609 compliant Transport Stream and streamed directly to the host system. An SDI signal monitoring output is provided. Both Windows and Linux operating systems are supported.

The HDCorder-SDI also features optional on-board redundant storage to complement the host system’s memory and improve data integrity. The on-board cache automatically acts as a rolling buffer, holding the most recently recorded data. This storage redundancy prevents loss of mission data even when multiple HDCorder-SDIs are hosted on a single CPU and starved of its resources,

The HDCorder-SDI is ideal for supporting electro-optical payloads and aerial surveillance turrets for real-time image capture and mission recording on mobile platforms including UAVs, armoured vehicles, naval vessels and other similarly demanding environments.

The HDCorder-SDI is one of AMP’s new family of CompactPCI-Serial high performance video products; these are a natural progression to CompactPCI-Serial from the company’s proven 32-bit CompactPCI video solutions.

‘We’re excited about this new product introduction, because we recognize the popularity, performance and benefits to systems builders of the CompactPCI Serial standard,’ comments Lee Foss, Technical Director at AMP, ‘Accordingly, the move was a logical development for us, because we’re simply transferring our long-established embedded video technology to the new standard. All our existing support tools, including OS drivers, video streaming SDK and RSVP design services are ready and available for our new set of CompactPCI Serial – based users.’

Video system builders will have an opportunity to see a demonstration of the HDCorder-SDI, together with a display of AMP’s CompactPCI and CompactPCI Serial boards, at Embedded World, Nuremberg, 14 – 16 March. The entire lineup will be on show at EKF Elektronik’s Stand 155 in Hall 3.
