Blackfly BFLY-PGE-50H5

Point Grey, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative, high-performance digital cameras, today announced the addition of a new 5.0 megapixel Sharp CCD model to its Blackfly family of GigE Vision™ cameras.

The latest Blackfly BFLY-PGE-50H5 camera models are based on the Sharp RJ32S4AA0DT (mono) and RJ32S3AA0DT (color) sensors, a 2/3" global shutter CCD. This camera model is capable of streaming 2448 x 2048 resolution images at 7.5 FPS. The technology has been developed by Sharp Corporation to provide highly improved sensitivity and image quality compared with conventional CCDs. Its unique microlens design collects light more efficiently resulting in improved quantum efficiency in the visible and near infrared regions.

The Blackfly supports cable lengths of up to 100 meters using Gigabit Ethernet, is compatible with GigE Vision third-party applications and provides a host of features including Power over Ethernet, temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, color interpolation, look up table, gamma correction, pixel binning functionality, and much more.

“We’re excited to expand our Blackfly camera line-up by introducing a new Sharp CCD to our image sensor portfolio”, says Michael Gibbons, Director of Sales and Marketing at Point Grey. “Sharp has been a longtime CCD sensor manufacturer in the security industry, which requires image capture with high visibility regardless of day and night. The combination of improved imaging performance over existing 5.0 MP CCD sensors, high resolution, and very competitive price, makes this new sensor ideal for industrial applications such as factory automation, inspection and 3D scanning”.

The BFLY-PGE-50H5C is list priced at $995/€745 and is available to order now from Point Grey, its network of distributors, and the online store (for North American, Australian, and EU customers).
