New high speed 2 megapixel and 4 megapixel Cmosis monochrome sensors have been added to Teledyne Dalsa's Genie TS range of industrial vision cameras, available from Stemmer Imaging. With Power over Ethernet for reduced cable complexity, the Genie TS camera platform delivers a powerful feature set available for GigE Vision cameras.

Teledyne Dalsa’s burst mode feature provides high image capture rates with a true global shutter while maintaining exceptional image quality. The 2 megapixel (2,048 x 1,088) HD format version has a frame rate of 70fps, with 37.5fps for the 4 megapixel (2,048 x 2,048) version.

The Genie TS offers two image transfer schemes to make the most of the sensor capabilities. In automatic mode, data is output to the PC as fast as the incoming sensor data up to GigE speed. There is also a manual mode in which the Genie supports a set of features to control the data coming out of the camera, allowing flow control and buffering of a large sequence of images within the camera.

The rich feature set includes a wide dynamic range, achieved by combining multiple images at different exposures using the host computer. Also built into the tough compact body of 49 x 49 x 54 mm are motorised lens control with image-to-image aperture, zoom and focus functionality, auto iris, image compression, RS-485 and RS-232 ports and much more.

The camera is ideally suited to a wide range of industrial applications including semiconductor, electronics, food, packaging and other manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as intelligent traffic systems.
