Allied Vision raises $30,000 for Sightsavers charity

Allied Vision has closed its fundraising campaign for Sightsavers, an international charity that helps give blind and visually impaired people in developing countries their eyesight back. Altogether, Allied Vision raised around $30,000 (€24,500). This amount is made up of donations from Allied Vision staff, funds raised by Allied Vision staff in their local communities, and donations from Allied Vision Technologies GmbH as well as its parent company Augusta AG ($12,500 respectively).

Worldwide fundraising campaign at 8 locations
The leading manufacturer of digital cameras for industrial, scientific and medical applications had started its fundraising campaign at World Sight Day on October 9, 2014. Allied Vision employees organized fundraising events at each of the company’s locations – for example a family festival in Stadtroda, flea markets, lotteries, cake sale, etc. Customers and business partners were also asked to contribute with online donations.

Within two months, Allied Vision staff raised nearly $5,000, which were donated to Sightsavers via the independent online fundraising platform Crowdrise.com. Additionally, Allied Vision and Augusta donated $12,500 respectively directly to Sightsavers.

„I am extremely happy and proud of this achievement“, said Frank Grube, President & CEO of the company. “With this fundraising campaign, we wanted to celebrate our 25th anniversary the Allied Vision way: by joining forces with our staff, our customers, our partners and our communities, we make the impossible possible. Together, we will be able to help even more people who cannot afford treatments to get their eyesight back”.

Allied Vision thanks all donors who contributed to this success. The collected funds allow for 2,400 trachoma operations or 385 cataract operations. The online fundraising page will remain open until the end of 2014 and welcomes even more donations to help people see the bigger picture.
