ProPhotonix, a designer and manufacturer of LED systems and laser modules, has appointed Luster LightTech as its exclusive distributor of machine vision illumination products in China and Hong Kong. The agreement with Luster LightTech builds on ProPhotonix's existing strong position within the machine vision marketplace in Europe and the United States.

Luster LightTech, established in June 1996, is made up of four separate business units covering both the vision and imaging, and fibre optic communication sectors. The company's product offerings include illumination and lenses, sensors and cameras, specified imaging modules, and also machine vision software. With offices around China and Hong Kong, Luster LightTech has an established presence within the machine vision sector in this area.

Mark Blodgett, chairman and CEO of ProPhotonix, said: 'Our new partnership with Luster LightTech positions ProPhotonix to gain market share in this increasingly important sector of the Chinese manufacturing industry and we look forward to accelerated growth in the region.'

Isabel Yang, founder and general manager of Luster LightTech, added: 'With our established product offering and expertise within the machine vision sector in China and Hong Kong, this appointment will enable us to add further value to our existing customer base while growing ProPhotonix's geographic reach. We believe that this partnership will accelerate both our companies' growth within the sector at a time when the machine vision market is continually expanding.'
