LWIR bandpass filters

Deposition Sciences Inc (DSI), a manufacturer of highly durable thin film optical coatings, has introduced long wavelength infrared (LWIR) bandpass filters ideal for use in imaging sensor filters, order-sorting filters, thermal and/or night vision tasks, and Flir optics. Operate temperature is between ambient and 10°K.

The thin film coatings are manufactured via DSI's physical vapour deposition with the ion-assist process, making them highly durable and robust and feature extremely precise band edge placement for critical sensing applications.

A variety of substrates, such as germanium, silicon, zinc sulphide, zinc selenide, quartz, sapphire, and polymers are available for these LWIR filters, depending on the customer's wavelength requirements. Multispectral filters can also be provided when multiple filters are needed on a singe substrate. Various sizes, from a few millimetres to more than 2 inches in diameter can be provided. Cryogenic operating temperature transmittance measurements, down to 10°K, can be made in-house and customised to filter specifications. Out-of-band transmittance can be designed to OD6 or greater and measured to OD4 from 2,000-50,000nm, and to OD5 from 500-2,000nm.
