Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) product line

VITEC, a worldwide leader in advanced video encoding and streaming solutions, announced its intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) product line up for this year’s Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) event taking place in London Sept. 10-13. On Stand N7-340, VITEC will show field-proven products that tackle video ingest, streaming, dissemination, and archiving in the field and inside military and government facilities. With products that enhance military workflows by allowing personnel to digitise, distribute, and view high-quality video and critical metadata across the network, VITEC supports the most advanced video formats for situational awareness, decision support systems, and IPTV platforms.

On display VITEC will have its military-grade, ultra-compact MGW TOUGH series of portable, power-efficient HEVC and H.264 streaming encoders that deliver all the required capabilities to fulfill the most demanding Full Motion Video (FMV) applications. Specifically designed for harsh environments, MGW TOUGH encoders provide multichannel, high-quality, low-latency video encoding, as well as frame-accurate KLV metadata processing including Cursor-On-Target, MISB KLV, and STANAG 4609 from IP, SDI, or Serial sources.

For dissemination and content management of FMV streams and files, VITEC will display FITIS™, an all-in-one solution that can be rapidly deployed in the field or in a secure, hosted site to serve as the central interface for managing live and recorded IPTV content, user access rights, and video distribution workflows. The solution enables decision makers and analysts to view, archive, retrieve, and manipulate ISR footage and tactical military video streams quickly — a benefit that makes it possible to exploit live and recorded video for actionable, real-time intelligence in the observe-orient-decide-act (OODA) loop. FITIS also offers editing and collaboration capabilities for analyzing and sharing video assets with KLV/STANAG metadata.

“In today’s ISTAR market, the need for rapid, high-quality video delivery is paramount for the OODA loop. As a key player in this space, we look forward to demonstrating our fully integrated tactical FMV and point-to-point, stream-protected HEVC distribution solutions, all of which offer best-in-class video quality, latency, and SWaP,” said Mark Rushton, Business Development Director, VITEC.

VITEC will also exhibit innovations in ultra-low-latency video distribution for military and security applications. The first will be the MGW Ace Encoder and MGW Ace Decoder pair that delivers zero-latency contribution with 16 ms glass-to-glass latency thanks to the VITEC HEVC GEN2+ codec. This groundbreaking codec provides best-in-class HEVC video quality up to 4:2:2 10-bit, setting new industry standards in video quality, bit rate, and latency. For point-to-point applications, the solutions deliver bandwidth-efficient, error-free video streaming over lossy network, with support for transport protection technology allowing up to 30% packet loss or data corruptions.
