C3 Compact series

JAI has released four new members of the C3 Compact series with Mini Camera Link and PoCL interfaces. These 1.4 Megapixel cameras (CM-141MCL/CM-141PMCL - monochrome sensor and CB-141MCL/CB-141PMCL - Bayer colour sensor) feature a combination of high sensitivity CCD chips, high signal to noise ratio (>58dB), 30fps operation, and small size, making them particularly suitable in machine vision, medical imaging, food sorting, traffic and surveillance applications.

The four cameras are designed around Sony's ICX-285 2/3-inch progressive scan CCD (1,392 x 1,040 pixels) providing excellent sensitivity and spectral response. The sensor uses its 6.45μm pixel size and improved microlens technology to provide higher overall sensitivity (as low as 0.03 lux) with low smear characteristics. It also features extended spectral response in the near-IR region offering roughly 4x the sensitivity of conventional sensors at a 945nm wavelength.

Other features include pre-set shutter speeds up to 1/10,000 second and programmable exposures as short as 63µs for capturing fast moving objects. A variety of trigger modes are provided including reset continuous triggering (RCT) which enables the camera to operate in continuous mode while awaiting a trigger signal.

With the Mini Camera Link interface the camera's housing is compact (29 x 44 x 75mm) and, in addition to the Camera link interface, the cameras are also available with PoCL utilising the Mini Camera Link connector. With the PoCL standard there is no need for a separate power supply providing a clean one-connector solution.
