Multinational technology company, Siemens, has acquired Inspekto, an AI-enabled machine vision software firm based in Germany.

Inspekto developed an easy-to-deploy automated visual inspection system based, which harnesses novel AMV-AI technology to enable manufacturers, of any scale and profile, to automate visual inspection without vision expert supervision or production data.

According to Inspekto, Siemens will leverage the firm’s AI-enabled machine vision technology to support its global presence and deep digital industrial knowledge, while ensuring technological benefits for all customers. At the same time, Inspekto’s technology will be maintained and adapted to cover additional use cases.

Inspekto’s AI technology and capabilities are seen as a valuable addition to the Siemens industrial AI software portfolio, though contacts, contracts and operations will remain as they currently are.

Inspekto also will join Digital Industries, business unit Factory Automation in having its headquarters in Nuremberg, Germany.
