Basler registers strong growth in first half of 2010

Basler Vision Technologies has recorded growth in turnover during the first half of 2010. In the second quarter of 2010, the camera business segment recorded sales of €10.7m. The revenue from industrial digital cameras and video surveillance cameras increased by 91 per cent (previous year: €5.6m), marking a new record level.

With earnings before interest and taxes in the second quarter of €3.2m (previous year: €0.4m, +€2.8m), this business segment demonstrated its high profitability. At €13.3m, incoming orders increased by 117 per cent for the reporting period compared to the previous year's value of €6.1m. This means that incoming orders reached a new record level, just as they did in the preceding quarter.

On a global scale, the demand for digital cameras increased. And within the growth for all product segments, Gigabit Ethernet cameras continue to stand out. Basler was again able to increase GigE sales in the high double-digit percentage range compared to the previous year.

The Basler Ace GigE camera series, introduced in November 2009, has ranked among the company's three best selling product lines in the second half of the reporting period.
