Optical measurement system for transmission shafts

German company, EHR, has developed an optical measurement system for accurate automated inspection of transmission shafts with slip gears, bevel gears and hypoid gearing. Measurement of the radial deviation of such parts is necessary to ensure they haven't warped during manufacture.

As an objective measurement of the rotation properties of the transmission shafts, EHR employs a laser triangulation sensor to digitise the 3D structure of the tooth area. The resulting measured 3D point cloud can then be evaluated as required by the customer.
