Optical extender for USB 3.0 cameras

Lumenera’s Lt425 and Lt225 USB 3.0 cameras can now be installed with the USB 3.0 Spectra 3022 100-metre optical extender from Icron Technologies, a manufacturer of high performance USB and video extension products. The new solution guarantees performance beyond the length limitations of standard USB cables.

The practical length limit for a USB 3.0 cable is restricted to, at best, 20 metres when using active cables – short in comparison to other technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), which can reach 100 meters.

Lumenera has addressed this issue with Icron’s 100 metre multimode fibre extender system for SuperSpeed USB 3.0. The solution allows high-speed, high-resolution images to be sent via high-bandwidth USB 3.0 interface at distances as far as 100 metres.
