Intelligent camera

For challenging OEM applications with tight or angled installation space VRmagic offers an intelligent camera with a remote sensor that can be freely positioned. The sensor is connected to the central unit by an up to 50cm long flex-foil-cable with LVDS transmission. The size of the sensor board is 28 x 19mm.

Equipped with the DaVinci processor from Texas Instruments, the components feature a 300MHz ARM9 processor running Debian Linux as an autonomous standard operating system and a 600MHz DSP with 4,800 MIPs. Developers can transfer their own algorithms to the camera from a PC using a cross-compiler, since both the host system and camera have the same API. An FPGA module for pre-processing the image data is optionally integrated into the camera. The overall camera performance is optimised through distribution of computing processes to ARM, DSP and FPGA (load balancing). The components are equipped with 128MB RAM and a 512MB flash module – both can be extended. A high level of data security is guaranteed by a stable and fast file system. The supported interfaces include Ethernet, USB 2.0 Host, RS232 and general purpose I/O, analogue video output, as well as optionally CAN Bus and Profibus.

The 1/3-inch CMOS sensor with global shutter is capable of producing 69 images per second at a resolution of 752 x 480 pixels and 80 images per second at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. This makes the camera ideal for capturing both still images as well as fast motion sequences. It is available in monochrome and colour, as a board camera (VRmDC-12eOEM) or equipped with standard M12 optics (VRmDC-12eCOB). The size of the central unit is 42 x 38 x 33mm.
