FSM-IMX547 camera accessory for Kria KR260 robotics starter kit

FRAMOS, a leading global supplier of custom vision solutions and imaging components, and AMD-Xilinx Certified Partner, has launched the FSM-IMX547 Camera Accessory for the recently introduced Kria KR260 Robotics Starter Kit from AMD.

The FSM-IMX547 is capable of streaming high-quality colour or monochrome images to the Kria KR260 robotics starter kit. The fully integrated camera kit is compatible with the 10GigE Vision Camera App, available for free evaluation and download at the AMD-Xilinx App Store. The camera kit enables developers to design their own high-performance, high-speed, and high-resolution machine vision applications.

Based on Sony’s Pregius S IMX547 1/1.8" sensor, FRAMOS’s FSM-IMX547 Camera Accessory utilizes the 5 Megapixel global shutter CMOS image sensor to its fullest. It also leverages FRAMOS’s SLVS-EC Rx IP so that is runs smoothly and efficiently on the AMD-XILINX Kira FPGA via Sony’s SLVS-EC high speed interface. This allows the KR260 Robotics Starter Kit to stream at resolutions of up to 2472 x 2128 pixels at 120 fps, flawlessly. The included lens and lens mount ensure the best out-of-the-box experience while providing excellent image quality.

A Robotics Starter Kit for the Intelligent Factory of the Future

The AMD-XILINX Kria KR260 Robotics Starter Kit is a scalable development platform for robotics and is the latest addition to the Kria portfolio of adaptive system-on-modules (SOMs) and developer kits. The Kria KR260 offers a seamless path to production deployment with the existing Kria K26 adaptive SOMs. It includes native ROS 2 support, a standard framework for robotics application development, and pre-built interfaces for robotics and industrial solutions.

This new SOM starter kit enables rapid development of hardware-accelerated applications for robotics, machine vision, and industrial communication and control. Customers who are working with the KR260 are encouraged to contact FRAMOS for a field hardened, ready to use SLVS-EC Core; tailor-made to any Sony SLVS-EC based sensor module of their choice.

Machine vision is becoming increasingly important in the field of robotics development, explains Nathan Dinning, Director of Product Management at FRAMOS. “The most demanding imaging projects in the robotics industry that require robust data transfer will leverage this technology to its full extent. The SLVS-EC high speed interface paired with the Kria KR260 is a powerful combination that will give Vision to a new age of robotics.”

Camera Kit for all Product Creation Phases

During the evaluation and proof-of-concept phases, developers can interface the Kria KR260 Robotics Starter Kit or other open processing platforms with the latest image sensor technology using the FSM-IMX547 Camera Accessory and its versatile adapter framework.

Reference implementations and sample applications from FRAMOS deliver images immediately after installation, supporting Linux V4L2 for easy integration. In the development phase, electrical design references and driver sources provide developers a solid and proven foundation for rapid porting to custom system designs or scope expansion – reducing development effort and risks.
