VicamSnap delivers on new contract

Vitronic Machine Vision is to provide more than 1,000 of its VicamSnap cameras to track postage and parcels as part of a multi-million dollar contract.

Under the terms of the contract, the camera units will be deployed early this year for the customer’s facilities throughout the United States.

The Vitronic camera systems will provide scanning and barcode decoding for all customer-specific linear and two-dimensional codes, provide image capture and archiving routines, and allow the customer to provide additional tracking capabilities throughout its network.

The cameras will replace a previous multi-step process and is aimed at allowing faster manual sorting and throughput efficiency while enhancing the customer experience.

The VicamSnap provides a 12-inch by 10-inch width of field and a 16-inch depth of field to allow operators to immediately capture all one- and two-dimensional barcodes on parcels, envelopes and boxes.
