Xcelera-CL VX4

Stemmer Imaging can now offer the new Xcelera-CL VX4 user programmable vision processor from Teledyne Dalsa. The Xcelera-CL VX4, together with Sapera APF, provides a powerful FPGA (field-programmable gate array) based vision processor and integrated graphical FPGA development environment for real-time high-performance machine vision applications.

The Xcelera-CL VX4 is a Windows XP and Windows 7 (32/64-bit) compatible Camera Link vision processor based on the PCI Express x4 interface. Capable of acquiring images from a Base, Medium or Full Camera Link camera, the processor has an extended feature set that supports advanced Camera Link pixel/tap configurations.

Fully supported by Sapera APF, an integrated graphical FPGA development environment, the platform provides real-time FPGA based hardware processing. This processing platform combines an ACU (Acquisition Control Unit), DTE (Data Transfer Engine) and IPU (Image Processing Unit) with highly optimised memory architecture, making it capable of handling a variety of complex, real-time image processing tasks including iterative processing loops.

Sapera APF simplifies traditional FPGA development processes for software and hardware engineers by combining a point and click graphical interface with over 150 imaging functions in FPGA-based image processing libraries. It allows the development of simple, single pass or complex iterative algorithms and can verify designs to cut down development time. Sapera APF also automatically generates the necessary infrastructure to call user functions using the Sapera software development kit. This allows users to create, debug, and deploy FPGA code without ever leaving the development GUI, dramatically improving ease of development and time to deployment.
