UKIVA publishes Spring issue of Vision in Action

The latest issue of UKIVA’s popular ‘Vision in Action’ publication is now available online at: www.ppma.co.uk/ukiva/publications/vision-in-action.html. This contains a major feature on innovation in vision as well as highlighting the new online Technology Presentation Hub, which has replaced this year’s Machine Vision Conference and Exhibition (MVC). There is also the usual mix of application stories and UKIVA Members’ news.

The decision to reschedule MVC to 2021 in order to protect, visitors, exhibitors and exhibition staff from potential exposure to coronavirus 2 (COVID-19) was taken even before the UK Government’s latest measures for social distancing were implemented. The Technology Presentation Hub, which goes live at www.machinevisionconfrerence.co.uk on May 14th, 2020 and is free to access, will provide the opportunity for an even wider audience to benefit from the rich program of technical presentations that were originally scheduled for MVC. Registration for the Hub is open at: http://bit.ly/MVCHub.

The feature on innovation in vision highlights the many opportunities available for funding innovative vision projects. It also looks at some of the latest vision technology available and reports on some of the vision projects that UKIVA members have contributed to. The need for innovation and the contribution of vision to industrial automation has been brought into sharp focus during the coronavirus crisis. The need to keep key industries running, often at increased capacity, with reduced workforce availability is made easier where vision systems are taking responsibility for automated inspection, often in conjunction with robot systems.
