MvBlueCougar UV cameras

With the integration of the new UV-sensitive Global Shutter CMOS sensors IMX487 from Sony, MATRIX VISION increases the applications of the GigE Vision cameras of the mvBlueCOUGAR line. Certain machine vision applications, e.g. in the area of semiconductor inspection or waste sorting, can be optimized with the use of the UV spectrum or are only possible in this spectral range. The high-resolution sensor IMX487 with 8.1 MPixels originating from the latest Sony Pregius S generation (Gen4) is available both in the GigE camera range mvBlueCOUGAR-X and 10GigE version mvBlueCOUGAR-XT. The latest generation of sensors are characterized by high image quality with small pixel size and high transfer rates. GenICam-compatible software support ensures compatibility with existing image processing programs, thereby also guaranteeing platform independence. Initial prototypes of the models mvBlueCOUGAR-X (GigE) and mvBlueCOUGAR-XT (10GigE) with the sensor IMX487 are available now. The cameras will be available in series production from July 2022.

New possibilities with UV-sensitive Global Shutter CMOS sensors

The IMX487 sensor integrated in the mvBlueCOUGAR camera range with high sensitivity in the UV range of 200 to 400 nm opens up new possibilities in industrial inspection. Examples include the error check in the semiconductor sector, the detection of various transparent materials in waste sorting, or mold detection in food. The Global Shutter technology with Backside Illumination ensures both undistorted images with moving objects and high image quality through optimal use of the pixel grid. With a pixel size of only 2.74 µm, the cameras achieve a resolution of 8.1 MPixels. In the GigE version mvBlueCOUGAR-X the camera reaches a frame rate of 25 fps at full resolution, whereas in the mvBlueCOUGAR-XT with 10GigE interface 147 fps are even possible. The sensor size of only 2/3" permits the use of more reasonably priced UV-compatible camera lenses.

The cameras in the mvBlueCOUGAR range are compatible with the standards GenICam™ and GigE Vision®. Drivers are available for both Windows and Linux. The camera also supports third-party software that is compatible with GigE Vision®.
