Basler and Variscite expand collaboration for NXP i.MX 8M Plus technology

Basler and Variscite continue to expand their cooperation which started in 2018. Both companies offer comprehensive solutions based on the NXP i.MX 8 applications processor series as well as various evaluation kits with enabled interfaces for the partner’s products.

Variscite is a leading strategic partner of NXP and the only SoM vendor to join NXP's Platinum Partner membership. This gives the company early access to NXP’s new product introductions before they hit the market and makes Variscite the only SoM manufacturer worldwide to launch the full range of i.MX 8 products at the same time as NXP launches its new processors. For its development kits destined for multimedia use Variscite employs Basler embedded cameras: The resulting embedded vision systems provide an easy start to test vision-based applications.

Coinciding with the announcement of NXP’s latest applications processor, the i.MX 8M Plus, Basler released the reference camera module that matches the SoC. Through close cooperation and intensive coordination of all hardware and software components, the company realized a powerful and cost-optimized vision system that utilizes the full potential of both the camera module and the i.MX 8M Plus. The resulting vision system provides the perfect solution for intelligent, vision-based machine learning applications. Basler also recently launched an industrial grade Embedded Vision Processing Board with vision optimized interfaces based on a Variscite SoM. It enables the connection of various camera types and, in addition to prototyping, is suitable for series production.

“The combination of Basler's embedded vision know-how and Variscite’s System on Module expertise results in ideal solutions for our customers. Our Embedded Vision Processing Kit demonstrates our ability to create powerful vision systems based on Variscite's SoMs which exploit the full potential of both the camera and NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus. For users, this results in reduced development effort and lower costs,” commented Gerrit Fischer, Director of Solutions Business Management at Basler.

“We are excited to cooperate with Basler and together provide a complete solution for the embedded market. The partnership with Basler allows Variscite to expand the eco-system range we provide for our customers and meet our customers’ increased demand for high-end vision solutions” said Ofer Austerlitz, VP Business Development and Sales at Variscite.

A joint webinar of Basler and Variscite will be held on June 30, 2021, at 04:00 PM CEST (10 AM ET). The webinar will focus on both companies’ solutions for NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus applications processor. Registration is open here.

Basler receives certificate as family-friendly employer

Basler AG has again been honored for the award of the audit berufundfamilie certificate. The ceremony to honor the company's strategically designed family and personnel life awareness policy took place as an online event due to the corona pandemic. Among the congratulators were Oliver Schmitz, Managing Director of berufundfamilie Service GmbH, John-Philip Hammersen, Managing Director of the non-profit Hertie Foundation, and Dr. Auma Obama, as well as the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Christine Lambrecht.

Basler had previously gone through the dialog procedure for the audit successfully, which is open to employers who have been pursuing a family and life phase-conscious personnel policy for a long time. In 2011, the company was awarded the certificate for the first time. The audit, which can be used in all sectors and different company sizes, records any existing measures with family and life focus, systematically develops the company's individual potential and ensures that family awareness is firmly anchored in the organizational culture.

At Basler, 800 employees worldwide can benefit from the family-conscious measures. These measures, for example, currently include variable working hours - also for executives -, emergency child care, and other extensive family-related services. The company will continue to pursue its goal of actively promoting the compatibility of work and family responsibilities through flexible working conditions. Hardy Mehl, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer at Basler AG, emphasizes: "We want to retain our employees as well as attract new qualified employees by providing an attractive environment. This is part of our growth strategy and serves to secure the demand for skilled workers. We will continue to pursue a family- and life-phase-conscious HR policy as part of our value and performance-oriented corporate culture. In the future, we want to establish hybrid forms of work with a high degree of naturalness and professionalism. This will go hand in hand with the further development of our "digital culture“.”
