Firstsight Vision has sponsored an expedition to Antarctica to create an education base that will provide live transmissions over the internet. It is hoped the base will provide valuable information to help governments make informed decisions once the current treaty that protects the region from industrial action expires in 2041.
The station will be powered by solar and wind power sources, and it will include a meteorology station together with cameras and computers to record the state of the environment.
