Keyence will be introducing pattern projection lighting at the event. By combining hundreds of images from eight different light sources, the CV-X series is able to produce an accurate 3D representation of any inspection surface. The technique can solve complex and low contrast presence or absence applications, which were previously nearly impossible to solve using standard 2D inspection.

Imaging in 3D gives more stable part detection thanks to the addition of height data. Each of the eight light sources projects a varying stripe pattern onto the inspection surface and the variations in this striped pattern across the surface allow the CV-X series to generate the 3D image. The ultra-high speed CMOS sensors and controller processors allow for rapid image generation, meaning that both 2D and 3D inspection can be undertaken simultaneously.
