Edmund Optics (EO) has opened a global manufacturing, customer support, and distribution facility in the industrial district of Woodlands, Singapore. EO's investment in the new state-of-the-art building is a direct response to sustained customer growth and increasing demand for EO technology and products. With a footprint of over 77,000 square feet, the new building provides three times more manufacturing space than the old one, paving the way for the installation of advanced HVAC systems, increased production capacity and outstanding customer support facilities.
Samuel Sadoulet, executive vice president, engineering and manufacturing, stated: ‘This new manufacturing facility is a fully compliant, cutting edge structure, with the capacity to meet the growing needs of our customers and to deliver high precision optics. We've focused heavily on the aggressive expansion of our asphere capabilities as well as thin films coating – critical areas for our customers.’
EO has more than doubled the coating space and invested in new coating equipment with load locking capabilities. This allows for continuous production immediately increasing the plant's capacity by more than 20 per cent. To meet increased demand, EO have also invested in an additional manufacturing cell for aspheric lenses, with the potential to increase global production by more than 40 per cent within the next 12 months.
